All You Need To Know About Rectified Spirit

Rectified Spirit is also known by other different names – rectified alcohol, neutral spirits, neutral alcohol, etc. It is a combination of highly concentrated ethanol, which is purified by recurrent distillation. And this repetitive distillation method is called rectification. In most nations, this denatured alcohol is usually available in the market with the common name – Rectified Spirit. Medwin Pharmatech’s Rectified spirit brand is known as Medrub. It's 75% v/v Ethanol. The transparency of neutral alcohol has some specific limit of 95% ABV (95.6% by mass) when it is formed with traditional distillation procedures. The dilution is converted as a minimum-boiling azeotrope when it has a certain amount of mixture of ethanol and water. To get the desired rectified Spirit, it is distilled in multi-column stills at a range of 96-96.5%ABV. How to make Rectified Spirit? As a manufacturer of rectified spirit let us tell you the process. It happens by following three stages. But don’t try this at home. This is just for educational purposes. Stage 1: Selecting the raw material There are various agriculture products, among which you can select one for preparing rectified Spirit. The most common agricultural product is grains like barley, wheat, oats, corn, rye, etc. along with this, you can also use sugar beets, molasses, grapes, potatoes, sugarcane, and even other types of fermented plant material. It will be called a "grape rectified spirit" or "vinous alcohol "when it is prepared with grapes. Stage 2: Fermentation For the preparation of rectified Spirit, there is a requirement of raw material that should contain either natural sugar or starch. In some saccharification processes, enzymes are separately added to starch to convert it into sugar in the form of sucrose, glucose, fructose. Keep in mind that if the selected raw material like grapes already has natural sugar, no extra enzymes need to be added. After this, the next step is fermentation. In this process, yeast is added to the mixtures of natural sugar, and this action will break it down into alcohol (ethanol) plus carbon dioxide. Stage 3: Distillation & Rectification The fermentation procedure will only produce a minor quantity of alcohol, which is not sufficient for it to be utilized to produce rectified Spirit for you all. So, to increase the alcohol measure, it further has to undergo another procedure named distillation. Distillation is the procedure of detaching the various components in the processed liquid mixture with the help of condensation and boiling methods. There are generally two prime types of distillation procedures: - column distillation and pot still distillation. When you heated the raw liquid mixture concentration, the ethanol concentration vaporized first. Keep in mind that there are mainly three stages of the vaporization procedure. The very first stage is foreshots, which is pursued by the second stage called "heart" or "heads," and the last stage is called "feint" or "tails." So, to produce an ideally desired solution, the raw liquid mixture concentration must undergo another repetitive sequence of distillation techniques called rectification. After following this method, a specific number of times, you will get an odorless and colorless liquid that will have a required concentration of min. 95% ABV. This is the particular moment when you will get the desired rectified Spirit, and that is why it is also known as a "neutral" spirit.
